Hello everyone!
My name is Chaturi Wijesundera. I'm a sophomore at the University of Michigan studying Sociology and Communications (hopefully). I tend to change my mind a lot about what I want to major in, so that might change soon.
I am really interested in issues concerning female body image, so most of the things that I will end up blogging about will most likely be about my views on body image. In one of my communications classes, we are doing group projects pertaining to issues that are related to the media. I was particularly happy that my group wanted to research the effects of media on a woman's body image because it has been something that I have been interested in for quite a while now. There are times when I look at pictures in magazine ads or ads on TV and wish that I had a nice body, or nice boobs. Although I try not to think about it, it's something we can't escape. we are surrounded by media outlets everywhere. I think that it is something that is important to social understanding because sometimes we don't realize how much the media affects how we think and how we feel, like how we feel about body image for example.
